I remember when I heard this saying first, I was driving home from hanging out with my girlfriend and I always try to listen to podcasts at least once a week. I’m just curious about certain things and I want to learn more. I’m not a huge fan of podcasts because most are monotone or they (the curators) don’t find a way to make it interesting. Anyway, I was listening to this one and it was just short enough to where I would make it home but I would still have some time to remain. This podcast was a marketing one talking about 7 eye opening ways to be more creative. I’ll link it here (https://open.spotify.com/episode/6GjjIJCqh6nznAVcNqbhpm)
A key statement that stood out to me way what this blog is about. How curiosity is the key to progress. The mind is amazing to me and how we think just like WOW’s me.
When we as humans get curious it leads us with questions, then we wonder, we ponder and then we learn. Curiosity is the building block of knowledge structure and opens new streets of thoughts. I hear people tell college freshmen that college is a place filled with curiosity, I think curiosity is how we find ourselves. Someone is curious about their religion, they go to different churches. Someone is curious about their sexuality, they try different things. We are curious people.
Being a creative, you HAVE to be curious. Well you don’t have to but in my opinion you won’t grow. You won’t reach your untapped position. To me Curiosity is the Key to breakthrough your creativity. When we approach things creatively with curiosity we are able to dive into that uncertainty with a positive attitude. Which means we are relaxing ourselves and are open for error. I think if we want to spark that next level of curiosity we need to find that touch of our inner child like curiosity.
It’s kind of interesting as kids we have high volumes of curiosity but when we get older we fall into a sense of comfort, security and a simple way of making sense of everything in the world.
In the end the more we fall into curiosity and connect the dots, the more we will be able to 1. Learn and grow our knowledge but find new discoveries and find different things we like to do. Our own past experiences and stories, combined with a passion to learn and grow truly leads to the growth of our creativity.
